Motion #7

Law Reform - Traffic Lights (Right on Red)

Law 12.3 is currently:

12.3 Traffic Lights

Drivers of vehicles must come to a complete stop at a red traffic light. When meeting an amber traffic light, drivers must come to a complete stop if it is safe and possible to do so.

This motion proposes that the law is changed to:

12.3 Traffic Lights

Drivers of vehicles should always come to a complete stop at a red traffic light. The right on red exception permits drivers to pass through a red light if they are making a right turn, providing it is safe to do so. When meeting an amber traffic light, drivers must come to a complete stop if it is safe and possible to do so.
